I modeled this guy in modo and ZBrush. Then rigged and rendered in Houdini. 
I implemented the skin shader from GPU Gems 3. It is very nice, and looks good.

The animations are more like an experiment to me, since most of the work was on the modeling and rendering.A cartoony character

A kind of machine animated by expressions based and channel referenced on one sin(Function)...

Rendered with mantra ray-trace.
without motion blur because of render time problem....
