BoxSOP
From Odwiki
What it does
The Box SOP, unsurprisingly, creates Boxes. By default, it creates a polygonal cube - an excellent source for a SubdivideSOP.
Notes
- The Primitive Type has a Polygon Mesh option. This allows you to create a cube with more rows and columns on its surface. This often allows you to start with a better topology for later subdivision.
- The Divisions option in Polygon mode will allow you to divide the cube up in three dimensions. This creates the proper point counts that are needed by the LatticeSOP. Enforcement bars are handy for soft body dynamics like the SpringSOP, ParticleSOP, etc. so that the box doesn't easily collapse on itself.
- For subdivision, you always want to use shared points, which is governed by the Consolidate Corner Points. Turn this off to get a faceted cube whose edges are sharp.
- When feeding the Box SOP another SOP, it will create a bounding box.
