Motion Blur

When taking a picture, the shutter of the camera is open for a certain amount of time. If an object is moving rapidly during that time, the image of the object will be blurred in the picture.

Many renderers support simulation of motion blur.

Houdini separates motion blur into three different types, TransformationBlur, DeformationBlur and VelocityBlur.

Motionblur in Mantra

  • MotionFactor is supported, which helps accelerate motion blur.
  • Multisegment motion blur with an infinite number of segments (RAM permitting)
  • Motion blur in the image and be disabled, while the rest of the rendering pipeline can work as if motion blur is enabled, allow you to do perform the blurring in 2D (See the VectorBlurCOP and getBlurP() VEX command) and still receive the benefits of MotionFactor, and so on.
