Windows
Runs on:
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
Will definately NOT run on:
- Win98SE
- WinME
Note : Certain scripts (such as hexpand, hcollapse, hrender, etc) require csh to run. On Windows, a copy of the win32 native tcsh binary is included for convenience. It is named "csh.exe". If you run it and type "version", you can see what version of csh it is. This executable is exactly the same except for the name change to the one found through http://www.tcsh.org/Home. Some of these scripts might also require certain unix commands that are available from http://www.cygwin.com. Detailed instructions can be found at the UnixOnWindows wiki page.
==Linux== Reported to work with:
- RedHat7.2
- RedHat7.3
- RedHat8
- RedHat9 (Ximian/Metacity/Sawfish) and Fedora Core 1 and 3
- In order to get this to work, you need to set this environment variable: setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
- Gentoo & Mandrake
- Mandrake 10 and kernel 2.6
- You need the following:libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 and you have to also set the following:setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
- Debian GNU/Linux and kernel 2.6
- You need to 'apt-get install libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2' and 'setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1'
- Suse 9.1-9.3 (on both dual Athlon and Opteron) Note that SESI offers what they call a "Redhat 9" build of Houdini, as well as an older "Redhat 7.3" build. Generally, you want to use the "Redhat 9" build, unless you are running the older Redhat 7.3 or 8.0 versions. The "Redhat 7.3" build should work on the newer systems (Fedora Core etc) but it is recommended to use the newer build.
- Fedora Core 12
- Audio doesn't seem to work unless you install alsa-oss and then run Houdini like: "aoss houdini"
Mac OS/X
- Currently requires Leopard, and is 64bit.
