RigidBodyDynamics
From Odwiki
RigidBodyDynamics (or RBD) is the simulation of rigid materials under the laws of physics.

Rigid Body Dynamics in Houdini 8.0 and up
Houdini implemented RBD in the Dynamics Context, DOPs.
Legacy Dynamics Support
Rigid Body Dynamics up to Houdini 7.0
This is all now outmoded by an implementation of RBD in DOPs.
Houdini 7.0 has an RBD system which is evident in a few areas
- All Objects have a Physics tab which define their physical properties
- There is a ForceObject for creating forces to affect the simulation.
The actual solver and RBD-related operations are in POPs
For exporting the computed simulation back to the scene, Houdini has a ParticleCHOP.
Legacy Tutorials and Demos
- Here (http://www.odforce.net/odwiki/odwiki_uploads/rbd_bowling_demo.tar.gz) is a file to demonstrate some basic RBD in Houdini. This is bowling ball hitting skittles over.
References and Tables
- Here (http://www.simetric.co.uk/si_materials.htm) is a nice site with tables for the densities of various materials as well as common conversions. There is also a table of the density of liquids.
