SOP

SOP is short for Surface Operator. SOP nodes are used within Geometric OBJ nodes to create and modify geometry including: curves, polygons, patches, NURBS, metaballs and so forth. Just about anything that is visible in the view-port and/or is rendered by a ROP node uses SOP nodes. Even lights and cameras use SOP nodes to create view-port selectable geometry, although this geometry is not ultimately rendered by ROP nodes.
