Tcl/Tk is an easy to learn general purpose scripting language that comes packaged with all Houdini versions, primarily for creating more powerful GUIs. The only downside is that Houdini comes packaged with a fairly old version of it, 8.0p2. When programming Tcl/Tk for Houdini, make sure you look at the older version of the Tcl/Tk documentation from the link below.

To invoke a tcl/tk program, one uses the tk hscript command. See its help in Houdini for more info.
